To use this service, you will need to have ordered either the Private Cloud or VPS with Firewall service.
Users want to be able to connect securely from a home or office to a private network in the cloud. This allows you to access your VPS without the worry of traffic being unencrypted or opening up ports that you don't want to be publicly accessible.
Step 1: Log in to your account and go to the service that you have ordered with the Firewall.
Step 2: Once you have gone to the service, you should have a menu like this. Expand networking and select Setup VPN. Then, Click Enable VPN.
Step 3: After that, you will need to create a VPN User by inputting a username and password.
Limitations:
The Remote Access VPN feature (L2TP over IPsec with pre-shared key) is subject to certain limitations:
-
Single connection per source IP/CIDR: The VPN does not support multiple simultaneous VPN connections originating from the same source public IP or NAT’ed subnet. This means that if multiple users are behind the same NAT (e.g., office network or shared IP), only one of them can connect at a time. Additional connection attempts will fail until the first session is disconnected.
-
No support for overlapping subnets by the VPN: Remote Access VPN does not provide NAT traversal or address translation features to handle overlapping subnets between the client and the VPS. Make sure your local subnet is not the same.
Recommendation:
If your environment requires multiple concurrent VPN connections from the same location (NAT or IP), or a site-to-site VPN, consider looking at our Private Cloud service.
